My infatuation with the Nest Thermostat dates back to the second half of 2011 when I saw it mentioned in a magazine article. I remember thinking it looked interesting, but then, like with so many other things, I forgot about it amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

A chance encounter with another magazine article about it in October of 2011 (I think it was Macworld Magazine) got me excited about it again and I tried to order one immediately. Of course, they were out of stock on the Nest web site. No luck finding it on Amazon.com, but they did have them listed on BestBuy.com, though they were out of stock there too.

Like so many other things, not being able to get one, made me want one even more. I signed up on the Nest web site to be notified when one would be available and on January 5th, I received an email from Nest saying that I was able to order one. Flash forward to the end of January and my very own Nest arrived!
