Another one from back in January 2011 at Tanner Springs Park. Devyn and Nathan were hiding in the tall grass while Chris and I sat on the concrete steps. As they kept popping up, I got my camera ready and caught Devyn as she jumped up smiling and shouting “Surprise!”. I really like this photo.

Looking back at some photos from earlier this year, I found this one of Nathan taken down at Tanner Springs Park in the Pearl District. While I really enjoy taking photos of the kids smiling and having a good time, I love catching them when they don’t think anybody is watching them.

Taken in late March 2011 in Kapalua, Hawaii, just below the Ritz Carlton hotel. Moments before this was taken, we posed for a family portrait and then the winds picked up and then the rain came pouring down.
Not perfect, but an early attempt at creating a dramatic portrait with one light. Click on the image above to see the full, un-cropped portrait of Nathan.
